December 2012
An Amazing Year!
What an amazing year this has been for EWTG! It has been a privilege for me to have worked with an exceptional 2012 board of directors. Each exceptional woman brought her own expertise and talents to the directors' table. These women volunteered many hours and were truly committed to bettering our organization. We began our year with our Board orientation and agreed that "Teamwork is Best” and "It is OK to Agree to Disagree” but do so with respect.
This year our Board worked together and added four new Executive Success Teams; had an exceptional conference with over 950 in attendance; upheld our financial obligations; created a powerful new membership brochure; established a Google+ site for live interviews; secured star-studded luncheon speakers including: Representative Wilhelmina Delco and Melinda Garvey of Austin Woman Magazine; enriched us with awesome mini course trainers including having our first Executive Level Leadership Series Panel; and, gave "EWTG Star” our newsletter a more "upbeat” appearance.
It was also a privilege to work with the outstanding 2012 committee chairs. Each chair accepted the challenge to excel at their committee commitment. EWTG gave back to our community through community service by participating in: For the Children, Soldier’s Angels, and donating to the Capital Area Food Bank and SafePlace. We had exceptional education events. We toured Ballet Austin, Texas Music Museum, Harry Ransom Center, and participated in Story Circle Network. We accepted and reviewed scholarship applications from our members for further educational opportunities, registration for conference, and Leadership Texas. Our Nominations Committee secured an exceptional slate of Board of Directors for 2013. The 2012 Legislative Committee provided information that kept us up to date on the upcoming 2013 legislative session; and, the Development Committee secured over $30,000 in sponsorships.
I’d also like to thank my President’s Advisory Committee. These ladies were always a phone call or email away to provide support, encouragement and offer words of wisdom.
It has been an extraordinary year. Thank you for allowing me to serve EWTG. Due to the outstanding board of directors, committee chairs and many volunteers and members who make up our organization, it has been a wonderful experience.
I wish each of you a wonderful holiday season and all the best in 2013.
