January 2012
Welcome the New Year and Accept New Challenges!
As I welcome in the New Year, I am embracing my new challenge - serving as the 2012 EWTG President. Five years ago, I had no idea that I would be representing the EWTG membership as Board President in 2012. Through participation on several committees, chairing committees, and accepting several board positions over the last few years, I have learned a great deal, and am humbled to be your new president.
EWTG’s vision and mission statements include the following: "Developing leaders to create positive results in Texas government” and "Promote leadership in service to Texas by offering professional development opportunities.”
The many leadership opportunities in EWTG have helped me develop and grow professionally and personally. I invite you to take advantage of this year’s opportunities to develop your skills and enhance your career. Sit in on our monthly leadership luncheons and mini-courses; stay tuned into what’s happening in EWTG by reading this monthly newsletter, the "EWTG Star”; join an Executive Success Team, which is one of our small mentoring resource groups; participate on one of our many committees; or take part in our community service projects and educational events. Retirees can stay involved, too! Maybe you’re looking into volunteer opportunities or perhaps you now have time to mentor other members. Lastly, make plans to attend the 26th Annual Professional Development Conference in November.
For those of you who have worked on many committees and served on the board in past years, thank you for your service, and your advice and counsel to our newer members. Thank you in advance for your support in 2012 with additional service and mentorship to our members. This organization is sustained by the entire membership, both long-time members and newer members.
I am proud to serve as the 2012 EWTG President alongside an exceptional Board of Directors. Your 2012 Board of Directors is rich in experience and enthusiasm. Each Director brings her own talents, skills, and experience to the table and all are capable leaders. This year’s board is looking forward to making this an exciting year for you and embraces a new challenge of providing you with new and meaningful professional development experiences in 2012!
