These three little words can be so encouraging and empowering, but it’s what you do with them that will make a difference! Have you stopped multi-tasking long enough to think about what you are doing on a daily basis for yourself? If you have, I bet you realize that when you devote time to improving yourself or even allowing yourself a break… it affects you, those around you, your quality of life and your career.
Invest in your health… so that you feel better physically! Eat the right foods, exercise, get enough sleep, and take a few moments just to “chill,” or do what ‘grounds’ you and rejuvenates you.
Invest in your finances… invest the time to understand your finances! Then you can give to others, and yes, give to yourself! Consider setting aside monthly funds for a long term investment or maybe even a short term investment.
Invest in your career… pursue continuing education! Think about what tools you have in your toolbox and how you can learn more, develop new or existing skills to advance your career, and always build your personal and professional network!
I am not saying to become “self centered” in an arrogant way, but become “self centric” so that you feel good about yourself. When you feel good about yourself, you feel and look better and exude confidence in your actions and decisions. Often this will allow you to be proactive rather than reactive to situations, which is key in the changing economy and today’s workplace. You will find those moments of “peacefulness” to simply be still, reflect and relax. Why is this important? So that you can be happier!
