October 2012
EWTG 2013 Board Service
This has been an exceptional year for your 2012 Board of Directors, but starting January 1, 2013, a new Board of Directors will sit at the leadership table. During the last few weeks, I have had the privilege to work with Lynn Whitten, the 2012 Nominations Chair, and her committee members: Mary Castleberry, Barrie Cogburn, Susan Johnson, and Liza Willmore to identify a potential slate of officers for the 2013 EWTG Board of-Directors. The Nominations Committee recommendations will be presented to the Board of Directors at the October Board Meeting.
The Nominations Committee has an important responsibility to our organization. Their responsibility is to seek out potential board candidates who have demonstrated commitment to the organization and who have grown through volunteerism and service within the organization to warrant placement in a leadership position. Candidates must be members in good standing and demonstrate leadership, dependability, and a willingness to serve.
Board service involves a commitment of time and reliability as these leaders guide the affairs of the organization. Serving in a volunteer capacity, Board members receive no compensation or special accommodation for their service. Each board position oversees a committee of volunteers who are charged with accomplishing specific duties.
Board members must recognize that EWTG is a non-profit corporation and as such is governed by its Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws pursuant to state and federal laws relating to the operation of nonprofit corporations. Board members also have a responsibility to comply with and be guided by the organization’s Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws to carry out the organization’s mission.
For more than 25 years, EWTG has been a successful professional development organization for women in Texas government led by women who step into the shoes of leadership. We now look forward to the direction of our 2013 Board of Directors who will step up to serve our organization.
Thank you 2012 Nominating Committee. Your dedication and service to EWTG is appreciated!
